Would you like to add a PIN code to your Monizze card? Deactivate it or unblock your card after several incorrect attempts?
You can now perform these actions yourself directly in the Monizze app.
Good to know: this feature is available to Monizze users who have a black Monizze card with a gold pattern.
How to activate or deactivate a PIN code
1. Activate a PIN code
In the app, go to the “Card” tab and find your black physical card. Under “PIN code”, tap “Activate”.
The PIN code will be a randomly generated code.
Once activation is requested, the PIN code will not be required for your next payment. However, you must insert your card into the payment terminal to complete the PIN activation.
You will then receive a confirmation that your PIN code is active.
2. Deactivate the PIN code
If your card already has a PIN code, you can request to deactivate it.
In the app, go to the “Card” tab and find your black physical card. Under “PIN code”, tap “Deactivate”.
To complete the deactivation, you will need to enter your PIN code one last time on the merchant’s payment terminal during your next payment.
The PIN code will no longer be required for subsequent payments.
3. If your card is blocked after several incorrect attempts
After 5 incorrect PIN entries, the card may be temporarily blocked. In the app, under the “Card” tab, you can request to reset the attempt counter.
A merchant transaction is required to complete the reset. The counter is reset to zero once the request has been finalised.
Key point: an in-store step is required
For security reasons, the card must be physically updated: the chip cannot be modified “remotely”.
To complete any request (activation, deactivation, or reset):
- go to a merchant (physical payment terminal)
- insert the card into the terminal (contactless payment is not sufficient)
- initiate a transaction (payment)
Why? Only inserting the card allows the chip to be updated. Contactless payment does not update the card.
